Key Information
Phonics and Reading
Phonics: Please ensure that your child brings their phonics book to school every day so that it is available to be changed when needed. The day your child’s book is changed will vary depending on their phonics group and where they are in the teaching cycle. We assess the children every half term and will keep you informed about your child’s progress, as well as ways you can support their learning at home.
We encourage children to read their daily. As the children are already familiar with the books sent home, this allows them to focus on developing their reading fluency, accuracy and speed. Regular reading at home will help build their confidence and support their continued progress.
Rainbow Read: Children in Teaching of Reading have the opportunity to choose their own books based on their individual interests and preferences. They can change their book once they have finished reading it, giving them the freedom to explore different authors, genres and types of stories. We encourage children to talk about the books they are reading and share their thoughts and favourite parts, helping to develop their confidence and foster a genuine love of reading
PE
Bee Class have PE on Monday and Thursday.
Please make sure your child is wearing the correct PE kit on PE days. The school PE kit is: trainers, black jogging bottoms, white t shirt and a black jumper or their school jumper. Please also ensure that your child is not wearing any jewellery and that if they have long hair it is tied up.
Library
We visit the school library on Wednesday. Please can you send your child's library book in to school every Thursday. We hope you will enjoy reading your child's new library book to them when they bring it home!
If your child does not bring their library book in they will not be able to choose a new book to bring home until the following week.
